I make photographs of the mountains I live in.

I'm John — a photographer based in Fraser, Colorado, working the length and breadth of Grand County. My camera has been up Berthoud Pass at four in the morning more times than I can count, and I've spent enough winters at 8,500 feet to know exactly which meadow the elk cross on the first cold morning of October.

My work sits at the intersection of the outdoor and the editorial. I photograph adventure elopements in Rocky Mountain National Park, families in the aspens above Tabernash, marketing campaigns for outdoor brands and Winter Park hospitality clients, and fine art landscapes for collectors who want a real piece of this place on their wall.

Whatever the project — I care about the light, the specifics of the location, and making images that actually feel like Colorado. Not the version of Colorado on a postcard. The one you and I both live in.
